The same product under several brands

A very varied catalogue, titles that change from one version of a page to the next, similar listings from several sellers.

What you see

A shop that sells a cat clipper, a fountain, a car seat, a dog coat and a cooling mat all at once. The same product that changes name, page address and promise (“chemical-free pillow”, then “natural territory”, then “scratcher”) from one version to the next. Very similar listings on marketplaces, sometimes under the same brand name.

How to check

  • Compare photos and descriptions across shops and marketplaces.
  • See whether the sales page has changed title: the reviews attached to the product often keep a trace of it.
  • Note what is an observation (the listings look alike) and what is not (they come from the same manufacturer).

Takeaway

Reselling a generic product is not illegal. But it puts phrases like “designed for your cat” or “our creation” in perspective, and two shops selling the same product are not necessarily linked.
