An advertisement disguised as an article
A page signed by a “writer”, with a date and reading time, that leads to a buy button without saying it is advertising.
What you see
A page that looks like a blog or press article: an author name with a title (“cat lover and writer”), a publication date, a reading time, numbered subheadings. It tells a personal story, quotes figures, then points to a buy button. Nowhere does it say it is advertising.
How to check
- Look for a “advertisement”, “sponsored” or “partnership” label: its presence or absence is an observation.
- See whether the page can be reached from the shop’s main site or only from an ad. The root of its subdomain sometimes returns a 404 error.
- Look for the author’s name somewhere other than on this page.
Takeaway
A page that tells a personal story and ends with a buy button is commercial promotion, even if it does not look like it.
